What is a LOMA?
A LOMA, or Letter of Map Amendment, is an official document issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It is used to exclude specific properties or structures from being considered within a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA).
What does a LOMA do?
By obtaining a LOMA, property owners can demonstrate that their structures are located at an elevation above the base flood level, and as a result, they may be exempted from mandatory flood insurance purchase requirements and other flood-related regulations, providing them with potential cost savings and reduced flood risk concerns.
